Still, non-Reaktor synths feel more coherent because I personally really don't like the way Reaktor handles presets and browsing. KOMPLETE 12 includes 10 Expansions genre-specific sound packs loaded with synth presets, drum kits, one-shots, samples, and loops. So yeah, Reaktor seems the best choice if you must but don't want to commit.

NI moved away mostly from analog synth emulations Arturia and U-He are more about that if you want those (and you don't). If you already have that, the only way is to sell your license (I did that with Kontakt 2), eat the loss, and get Komplete, not necessarily in that order. Kontakt opens the doors to the world of huge 3rd party libraries. When you want Kontakt (the most expensive of the bunch) and one other plugin, Komplete is honestly just a better deal because you don't have to pick & choose.

I've been looking at NI's Straylight, currently half-off at $99.50, which is marketed as a granular synth, but with 'highly curated' samples. Notably, I find Falcon's UI very easy to get around and UVI's inclusive ecosystem extends the value of Falcon even more. Also just got Falcon 2 and that's a lot of fun and sounds amazing. I am interested in samplers, but Serato Sample already does 90% of what I need from a sampler (time-stretching).

I own a ton of analog hardware, so I'm not too interested in that kind of software (early on I bought Arturia's V-Collection, MemoryMoon's ME-80, and OP-X Pro, but I never use them anymore since I have so many hardware analogs). I don't own Kontact (and don't intend to), and am pretty unfamiliar with the entire NI product line. Although I just bought a bunch of UVI stuff on Black Friday, since many of NI's stuff is at such a deep-discount I thought it was worth a look.
